In September 1938, defeat was not yet palpable. Félix and Tomasa, beneath their guise as simple shopkeepers, concealed two key figures in the resistance: Tomasa was the queen bee of one of the Unified Socialist Youth's cells; Félix was the leader of the so-called "Red Devils." In the back room of their shop, a select group gathered: Mercedes, with her ever-present rifle slung over her shoulder; Pecosa, barely a child, brimming with rage; Amparito, Prudencia... Only Visitación, Félix and Tomasa's daughter, remained somewhat detached as she prepared to continue her artistic career once the war was won. Twenty years later, Claudia has begun to inquire about the past that the two women who care for her have chosen to keep hidden from her. By chance, a stranger gives her a clue that will ultimately lead her to Madrid during the Francoist repression of the 1960s.
