Barcelona, ​​1888. The city sparkles under the lights of the Universal Exposition, but a Jack the Ripper copycat threatens to overshadow the celebration. Peyton Pemberfort travels to Barcelona at the invitation of the Marquesses of Bellmont, eager to visit the grand Exposition and be with her sister, Olivia, in the final stages of her pregnancy. She is accompanied by her faithful lady's companion, Anne, and Dr. Graeme Ravenshade, a childhood friend of the Marquess and, to Peyton's misfortune, the same arrogant man who covered her in mud during an unfortunate incident in London. Although the antipathy between them is immediate, the tension soon begins to transform into something more complex… and dangerous. Furthermore, a disturbing coincidence will irrevocably involve them in the investigation of a series of murders with a modus operandi strikingly similar to that of the Whitechapel killer.
