El abogado del Lincoln se enfrenta a un coloso de la inteligencia artificial acusado de provocar el asesinato de una joven.
After traveling the "road to resurrection" and charting a new course, Mickey Haller now focuses on public-interest litigation. He represents the victim’s family in a civil lawsuit against Tidalwaiv, an artificial intelligence company whose chatbot encouraged a sixteen-year-old boy to kill his ex-girlfriend.
Haller sets out to expose the lack of safeguards within the burgeoning and barely regulated artificial intelligence sector. Joining his efforts is journalist Jack McEvoy, who intends to write a book about the trial. McEvoy discovers that someone possesses crucial information but is too terrified to speak. With billions of dollars at stake, the case is fraught with danger, and Tidalwaiv will stop at nothing to thwart Haller.
It is often said that machines surpassed human intelligence in 1997, when IBM’s computer, Deep Blue, defeated world chess champion Garry Kasparov—a victory sealed by a daring "knight sacrifice." Driven by a sense of duty, Haller must employ a similar strategy in the courtroom to take down the most formidable opponent he has ever faced.
