On All Saints' Day in 1755, an earthquake shook the city; it also precipitated the fate of Doña Julia López de Haro. After surviving the disaster, the beautiful widow, owner of Seville's most renowned printing press, decided to change the course of her life. She followed her heart and, hours later, gave herself to León de Montenegro, a young man from Malta who worked in her business.
