El Mono Monkey

Monkey is a happy, mischievous monkey who lives in the forest with his friends, always wearing his favorite yellow pants. One day, he wakes up feeling very hungry and can think of nothing but bananas—but when he asks Mrs. Giraffe for one, he discovers that there are none left. With no time for breakfast, he rushes off to school, where he finds it hard to concentrate; he can’t stop thinking about the banana he’s missing. While his classmates work on their assignments, he draws a banana in his notebook, pouring all his longing into the drawing. Later, he returns home and takes a nap—only to wake up and discover that his wish has come true. • Anything is possible! This story shows young readers that when we combine deep longing with a dash of creativity and a spark of confidence, magic can happen.
