Juancaballo

On the slopes of Mount Aznaitín, where ancient olive groves vanish into the ravines, an elderly woman lives alone in a cave. Her name is Areli Gándara, though in Santocristo she is known as "Juancaballo," and everyone seems to have a story to tell about her. Lucía, a social worker, arrives in this remote spot with the mission of arranging the woman's involuntary admission to a care home. What initially appears to be a mere bureaucratic formality soon turns into a disturbing descent into a world where reality and myth blur. Areli stubbornly refuses to leave her home—an archaic realm where she coexists with invisible spirits and awaits the nightly visits of Juancaballo, a fierce, legendary beast, half-man and half-horse, that stalks the mountains. With the help of Félix, the local doctor, Lucía attempts to rescue the old woman from her hostile isolation. Yet, as dark threats and inexplicable events begin to close in on the cave, the young woman starts to question her own sanity.
