En el centenario de la Generación del 27, Alianza recupera las voces esenciales y amplía la mirada sobre un movimiento decisivo.
The moon, water, night, the wind, and the horse all converge in these verses. Federico García Lorca transforms the *romance* tradition into poetry of unmistakable brilliance: Andalusia becomes music, desire, and a wound; young women, horsemen, shadows, and omens appear. Published in 1928, this collection established him as one of the most singular voices of his time. Lorca—a native of Granada, a musician before a poet, and a keen student of folk song—had found a space of friendship and avant-garde spirit at the Residencia de Estudiantes in Madrid alongside artists such as Salvador Dalí and Luis Buñuel. Yet in these poems, he does not forsake his roots; he transforms traditional *coplas*, ballads, and familiar landscapes into images of a new kind of beauty. He thus constructs a deeply personal universe, permeated by symbols, by freedom and the threats against it, by love, marginalization, and fate. Nearly a century later, his verses retain their full power: they continue to speak of that which, even when wounded, refuses to submit.
