Mars is a divided planet. To the north, the bohemian Plutonium City teems with music and art. To the south, the people of Velo City feel stifled by an increasingly oppressive bureaucracy. It is precisely in Velo City that HR Watson lives—the daughter of a wealthy industrialist whose life is protected by THB, her loyal yet enigmatic bodyguard, capable of expanding from a small rubber ball into a humanoid nearly three meters tall with just a single drop of water. What begins for HR as a toy of questionable utility—a simple little ball—soon becomes a weapon of incalculable value.
