Louis Braille

$ 18.45
Little Louis was a curious and cheerful boy. One day, while playing in his father's workshop, he had an accident and lost his sight in both eyes. At the age of ten, he moved to Paris to attend the National Institute for Blind Youth. There, they used a very complicated system that didn't allow the students to write. So Louis began to develop his own system. When he shared his invention, his teachers and classmates were amazed: his system used only six dots in a small space that fit under the fingertip, and it included a complete alphabet with punctuation marks, numbers, and mathematical symbols. Gradually, his code spread throughout the world and became known as Braille. Today, it is used by more than 6 million people, and there are codes for more than 133 languages.
