Felicidad y amor

Years after fleeing the New York art scene, the protagonist attends one of the dinners hosted by her former patrons, Eugene and Nicole. She couldn't bring herself to decline the invitation, because the evening is in memory of her old friend Rebecca, with whom she had a close and tumultuous relationship, and who has just died of an overdose. But finding herself once again seated on that white sofa, surrounded by artists, curators, and critics, all so ambitious, so supposedly brilliant, and so self-aware, she soon regrets it; even more so when she discovers that the real reason for the gathering is to honor a fashionable actress. While the guests drink organic wine and wait for the actress, who will arrive late, the narrator observes them and silently dissects them —their manners, their relationships, their delusions and failures, their utter moral bankruptcy— in an attempt to postpone the most uncomfortable question: What am I really doing here?
