La primera casa

One night, her husband enters the bedroom and tells her he wants a divorce. She is in disbelief; she had believed theirs was a happy, almost perfect marriage. From that moment on—isolated with her two daughters in the house they built together—she begins to unravel. Lost in a trance-like state, she obsessively studies her own birth chart and her ex-husband’s in search of answers, all while awaiting the arrival of a swarm of cicadas. As she surveys the wreckage of thirteen years of shared life, she begins to notice the warning signs she had chosen to ignore. Now forced to contend with the intrusions of her parents and a sister—the "perfect daughter"—with whom she hasn't spoken in years, she wonders if her marriage was merely a way of trading one yoke for another. In her mind, scenes from her married life and childhood memories intertwine with ancient myths of beheaded women and vengeful goddesses—stories that awaken within her an unexpected sense of liberation.
