An ordinary city-state, somewhere between Zamora and Corinthia. In prison, Conan, whose reputation as a mercenary precedes him, receives a visit from Murilo, an influential aristocrat who wishes to hire the Cimmerian to eliminate his political rival: the red priest Nabonidus. After escaping, Conan infiltrates his target's trap-filled residence. But once inside, he discovers that behind the power struggle between Nabonidus and Murilo, there may be someone else pulling the strings. In this new album, Patrice Louinet and Paolo Martinello present us with a Conan who is a thief and an assassin, bound by fate to two bandits of a very different breed. A less epic tale than the Cimmerian's warrior adventures, this story offers a behind-closed-doors narrative in an urban setting, revealing a dark, yet no less compelling, vision of the character.
