What was it about this work—ostensibly "for girls"—that managed to leave such a mark on generations of readers and viewers worldwide? In this *Apuntes de Cómic* (Comic Book Notes) entry, art historian Iria Ros Piñeiro invites us to revisit *Sailor Moon* through an art-historical and cultural lens. *El poder de la luna* (The Power of the Moon) is a short essay that encourages us to rediscover the universe created by Naoko Takeuchi and to understand the many references embedded within its characters, powers, and storylines.
