El ecosistema

Roi was a legend along the Galician estuaries as a pilot of drug-smuggling speedboats, but long ago, both the sea and his wife abandoned him. Elsa dreamed of becoming a police officer in Ceuta, but it all turned into a nightmare of corruption and vested interests. Natalia goes to great lengths to help her favorite student, a boy named Rachid who leads the most dangerous gang in the El Príncipe neighborhood. From his office in one of Madrid’s most exclusive areas, Paolo transforms dirty money into irresistible investments. They all seem to inhabit disconnected worlds, yet—unbeknownst to them—they are all cogs in a perfectly functioning machine. This is the story of an ecosystem—organized crime—that poisons an entire country. And, in doing so, it also explains it. It is a vast network that stretches across ports and rivers, through high-end restaurants and luxury penthouses, into neighborhoods no one dares enter at night, and deep into police stations, government ministries, and football clubs.
