Nanbanjin

Mid-16th century. Fernando, a Portuguese soldier, is shipwrecked on the coast of a tiny Japanese islet—a place too small for his towering figure to go unnoticed. There, he comes under the care of Shobei, an elderly fisherman who lost his son at sea. The two become inseparable, offering each other companionship, affection, and understanding within a microcosm threatened by sudden bursts of violence.
