Christmas is approaching in Sankt Anna, and the flower shop where Matilda Stjärne works is filled with hyacinths and amaryllis. Matilda loves Christmas, but this year she cannot bring herself to enjoy it. She has just broken up with her partner and hasn't told her parents yet, knowing her mother, Lillian, will take the news even harder than she has.
