Correspondencia 1922-1976

The correspondence between Hans-Georg Gadamer and Martin Heidegger, maintained almost in its entirety from 1922 to 1976, documents five and a half decades of personal and philosophical exchange between the two thinkers. Readers can closely follow the development of a relationship that began as that of teacher and student and blossomed into an intimate friendship and close collaboration between two colleagues. These letters bear witness to the debates and reflections on philosophical and philological questions, publication projects and lecture programs, academic and professional matters, and, most importantly, the personal and family lives of both philosophers. They also vividly reflect the political events that unfolded from the Weimar Republic and the Third Reich to the Allied occupation and the founding of the Federal Republic of Germany.
