Imagine Shakespeare discovering the number zero and the dimensions of absence. Imagine that you could read a book in an infinite number of different ways. My name is Daniel Tammet, and I am a synesthete: I perceive numbers with colors and shapes. In my mind, counting is like walking through a forest. I have also been diagnosed with savant syndrome: I can learn a language in a week and recite decimals of pi for five hours (which is why I received a Guinness World Record).
