El palazzo inacabado : Arte, amor y vida en Venecia

The Palazzo Venier dei Leoni was designed as a display of the power and wealth of this great Venetian family. Construction began in 1750, but it was abandoned when only one story had been completed. Empty and dilapidated, the unfinished palazzo lay forgotten amidst the city's aristocratic architecture for over a century, until it was restored and successively inhabited by the three women whose stories are told in this captivating book. Luisa Casati, Doris Castlerosse, and Peggy Guggenheim lived in the palazzo at different times, where they changed the course of their lives and, each in her own way, contributed to the building's renown. In this unique setting, they received visits from such emblematic figures of the 20th century as Gabriele D’Annunzio, Vaslav Nijinsky, and Yoko Ono, as well as Noël Coward, Winston Churchill, and Cecil Beaton, among others.
