Kenzie and Quinn aren't just stepsisters: they're best friends. Faced with their parents' constant arguments at home, their grandmother Diana decides to take them to spend some time on the Outer Banks islands in North Carolina, where she works protecting the local wildlife. Between kayaking trips, searching for fossils and shark teeth on the beach, the two girls discover the island's magic and are captivated by the herds of wild horses and the birth of a fragile foal they name Starling. The idyllic seascape doesn't overshadow the great uncertainty in their lives. With their parents' impending divorce and the possibility that Quinn will have to move to another state with her mother, they both face the constant fear of losing their bond and ceasing to be sisters. A beautiful graphic novel that makes us reflect on the secondary role of genetics and custody proceedings compared to the strength of chosen relationships.
