Flor de leyendas

In this collection of popular legends and myths, Eastern literature is represented by the Ramayana, the Mahabharata, and the Arabian Nights. From the classical Greek world, we find the protagonists of the Iliad; and from medieval epic poetry, the three most famous heroes of Spanish, French, and Germanic traditions: El Cid, Roland, and Siegfried. From the chivalric romances, two of the most beautiful legends appear: those of Tristan and Isolde and the valiant Lohengrin. Finally, as an example of early Scandinavian literature, we have Balder; and the struggle of the Swiss mountain men against tyranny is represented by the character of William Tell. At the beginning of the work, Casona offers us perhaps the most original text: his personal interpretation of the death and birth of Christ.
