¡Oh, oh! ¿Hay un robot entre nosotros?

These days, it's no longer newsworthy to talk about the importance of technology and its silent, yet unstoppable, path toward becoming our absolute matrix. But, faced with the speed and algorithmic leaps that this wave of artificial intelligence (AI) entails, we often forget to pause and explain how things are emerging, thus modifying our daily lives. What I mean is that we rarely take the time to sit down with our children and explain the concept of technology. An example of this could be the impact of robotics applied with AI in their immediate environment. At the educational level, teaching strategies are changing. It's about building a bridge, in my view, between the motivation to learn and the new digital skills necessary, of course, to be productive in an increasingly present future. Translating the immense advances of modern science into child-friendly language without losing their meaning requires a significant imaginative effort, because it is precisely in this space—and only this space—that children feel most motivated to understand and learn: their imagination. It is my hope that this short story will be, first and foremost, an invitation to play with our children, that it will truly be an attempt to cross that bridge, to motivate a child, increasingly immersed in the whirlwind of immediacy, to ask "why things are the way they are," to look up from the screen and curiously observe their surroundings, and to find in these protagonists, Amiga the ant and Lucy the firefly, those imaginative, yet not imaginary, friends with whom to learn knowledge, emotions, and adventures that, at their cognitive level, will help them accept the fun challenge of computational thinking, and that by the end of this story they will be able to create and understand their first basic programs.
