The Climber, 16

Buntarô and Takemura face the east face of K2, but Takemura is unable to continue climbing. They begin their descent and are caught in an ice avalanche. It is there, on the edge of a glacier, that Buntarô encounters the climber who inspired him to become the Loner. Meanwhile, back in Japan, they await news of his survival. However, Buntarô isolates himself completely and decides to summit the mountain that haunts his dreams.
