After achieving the highest score ever in the Junior National Figure Skating Championships final, Rô Shirakawa suffers a sudden, inexplicable outburst of anger. Not only is he disqualified from a competition he had practically won, but he is also banished from the world of figure skating for good. Dubbed the "Raging Prince," Rô moves to the city of Tomakomai, known for its passion for ice hockey. There, he discovers a natural ice rink, formed when one of the region's lakes freezes over, and he'll have to compete against the fearsome Genma brothers! As the local high school team, Oinokami, prepares to secure their twentieth consecutive national victory, Rô experiences ice hockey for the first time: a contact sport that is energetic, fast-paced, and beautiful.
