La porteadora

In Timau, an Italian Alpine village bordering Austria, only women remain; the men have gone to the front to defend the territory against enemy attacks. Every morning, ever since the Great War turned her into a "carrier," Agata joins her fellow women. With packs laden with food and ammunition, they set out along the most inaccessible mountain paths. Brave and determined, they brave the cold and danger to supply Italian soldiers in the trenches—men whose lives hang by a thread. Agata is twenty—the youngest of the group—and is ready to do whatever it takes to defeat those seeking to invade her country. Yet, when a wounded young enemy soldier crosses her path, her certainties waver, and love suddenly finds a way to bloom amidst the harsh elements.
