You can't buy a ticket for The Anywhere Express. It appears only to those whose lives are adrift; a magical train that seems to carry a very special and peculiar cargo: a sense of purpose, peace, and belonging. Raya is one of those lost souls. She had dreamed of writing songs, but when her brother died, she abandoned her dream to live his. One day, on the subway, as her thoughts wander, she is whisked away to The Anywhere Express. There she meets Q, an enigmatic artist who, like her, has lost his place in the world. Together they discover a train filled with wonders, from a carriage that is itself a meadow to a dining car where passengers picnic on lily pads and a bar where jellyfish and whales swim through pink clouds. Over the course of their long and strange night on the train, they also discover that it harbors secrets and danger: a mysterious stowaway has brought with him dark and malevolent magic that threatens to destroy the train. While investigating the stowaway's identity, Raya finds herself approaching the ultimate questions: What is the purpose of her life? Can the Anywhere Express take her there?
