Ever since their grandfather shared his passion for the past with them, Carmen and Marco have become true history buffs. There's nothing they love more than traveling through time with him and listening to his explanations. This time, our protagonists delve into the fabulous history of three of the most fascinating and famous pre-Columbian civilizations. Like the Maya, a people of fearsome warriors who were also prodigious astronomers and architects, and who built impressive stepped pyramids throughout Central America. A little further north and a few centuries later, the Aztec—or Mexica—civilization emerged. In the Valley of Mexico, they founded their capital, the monumental Tenochtitlán, upon which modern-day Mexico City stands. Inventors of chinampas (floating gardens), they worshipped Quetzalcoatl, the Feathered Serpent. In the Andean regions shone the Incas, who founded Cusco, built the largest empire in all of America in just one hundred years, and left us authentic architectural wonders such as the city of Machu Picchu.
