Para Polina

At fourteen, Hannes Prager falls in love with Polina. They seem destined to be together: born on the same day, they have grown up together, like kindred spirits, in a run-down village. To prove his love, Hannes, who possesses extraordinary talent, composes a melody on the piano that captures Polina's desires and longings. Shortly afterward, Hannes's mother dies in an accident, and the trauma is so devastating that he stops composing. Soon after, Polina disappears from his life. Years later, Hannes works carrying the instruments he once mastered. He makes new friends and, at times, convinces himself that he has rebuilt his life.
