After an accident, Arthur Candlewick, a family man and successful businessman, has a revelation: he will become an exemplary man and dedicate his life to others. To this end, he decides to sell the family business and donate his wealth to charity. His incredulous family thinks he's lost his mind. Evangeline, his college-aged daughter, also wants to change the world, but not at the cost of giving up their comfortable life. Emil, his misunderstood son, is so withdrawn that he can't distinguish between a life of plenty and one of almost nothing. And Yara, his wife, always worried about the future, just wants the doctor to give her husband another brain scan and find out what the problem is. But Arthur has already made a decision, one that affects them all. The Candlewick family is about to discover that a better world may not be a place for them.
