Cuentos Uruguayos

Uruguayan short stories, like the society they reflect, are open and cosmopolitan, not only because of their origins (it's said that Uruguayans are descended from the ships!), but also because of the circumstances of exile, forced or voluntary emigration. Some of the selected contemporary writers have lived or are living outside the country; others have made itinerant life a way of life compatible with their undeniable Uruguayan identity. All of them, in one way or another, here or there, demonstrate the enduring relevance of a genre that, while deeply rooted in time, has managed to reinvent itself in recent decades.
