The discovery of the body of Adeline Mazago, a renowned businesswoman, in a chocolate warehouse shocks the city of Concarneau. The victim, along with her brothers, managed a holding company whose main business was chocolate production and distribution. Adeline drowned in the warehouse, but in reality, she was already unconscious due to a blow to the head. Despite being a close-knit family, Dupin soon discovers two issues causing tension: the succession of the master chocolatier and an ambitious logistics project. An unexpected discovery leads Dupin and his inseparable assistant, Nolwenn, to the French Basque Country, where the commissioner enjoys the local cuisine until another death forces his return to Concarneau.
