La playa de los ahogados

One morning, the tide washes ashore the body of a sailor on a Galician beach. If his hands weren't bound, Justo Castelo would be just another son of the sea who met his end in the waters while fishing. With no witnesses and no trace of the deceased's boat, the laconic Inspector Leo Caldas immerses himself in the town's maritime community, trying to solve the crime among men and women reluctant to reveal their suspicions and who, when they finally do speak, point in a rather unusual direction. It's a murky case for Caldas, who is going through a difficult time: his father's only brother is seriously ill, and his radio show on Onda Vigo is becoming unbearable. The impulsive nature of Rafael Estévez, his Aragonese assistant, doesn't help matters either, as he struggles to adapt to the inspector's way of doing things.
