Olive Kitteridge

Olive Kitteridge, a retired teacher, observes the residents of Crosby, the small Maine town where she has lived for thirty years. Olive laments the changes in her small town and the world at large, but she doesn't always see the painful trials or the most intimate joys that intersect the lives of her neighbors: a bar pianist tormented by an impossible love; a former student who has lost the will to live; Olive's own adult son, who feels tyrannized by his mother's irrational sensibilities; and her husband, Henry, who experiences his loyalty to marriage as both a blessing and a burden. As the townspeople grapple with their problems, Olive journeys through loneliness and loss, gaining a profound understanding of the meaning of life.
