Tasio Ortiz de Zárate, the brilliant archaeologist convicted of the murders that terrorized Vitoria two decades ago, is about to be released from prison when the killings begin again. In the Old Cathedral, a couple in their twenties are found dead from bee stings to the throat. But they will only be the first. Unai López de Ayala, a young expert in criminal profiling, is obsessed with preventing the murders; a personal tragedy prevents him from treating them as just another case.
