Determined to defy oblivion, ethnographer Eugenio Monesma recovers in these pages the knowledge and effort of artisans of yesteryear. We will see Andrés, from Fabara (Zaragoza), craft a soccer ball from cowhide; we will learn all the secrets of wafer making from Dolores, a master pastry chef from La Alberca (Salamanca); we will observe Pedro, a weaver from the island of Menorca, constructing a barrier from wild olive wood; and we will meet many other men and women who volunteered to demonstrate their productive activities, all illustrated with photographs from the author's unique archive. With this new journey through rural Spain, Monesma offers us the opportunity to calmly honor the memory of our ancestors and proudly celebrate their valuable legacy.
