The Earth was being "strangled" by the calamities caused by the Lance of Longinus, while the Moon expanded. The Yomotsu Hirasaka, a fragment that broke off from the Moon due to the rapid transfer of material from the Earth's crust, began its descent toward Earth on a direct collision course. As the planet reels from this new threat, Shinji and the Super EVA fire a shot with the Azumaterasu Longbow to bring down the asteroid, but they are instantly transformed into salt and vanish... The giants gather on the lunar fragment, following the replica of the Lance of Longinus that crashed into it. Who among them will claim it after the battle? And will Shinji be able to return to life?
