Cuando nos maten mañana

After being gored by a bull, as he predicted in "Poema del cante jondo," El Amargo is now unfit for bullfighting. Retired from the bullrings in Seville, he now spends his time collecting debts, extorting crooks, and protecting those who pay the most. Then the surgeon who saved his life begs him to travel to Madrid in search of his only daughter, now motherless. The girl has run away from home to join García Lorca's theater company, La Barraca. Just days before the outbreak of the Civil War, the bullfighter must contend with the violence that fascists and anarchists unleash in the streets of the Spanish capital, while meeting with poets and keeping a night watch on the showgirl Celia Gámez, lover of the founder of the Legion, Millán-Astray, who holds a secret crucial to the mission entrusted to him by the doctor.
