Esperando a los Bárbaros

A great commotion shakes the city: rumors are circulating that the fearsome Barbarians are about to arrive. No one knows exactly when or from where they will appear —perhaps through the forest, the mountains, or the river— but everyone is convinced they will come to attack. While they wait, the inhabitants prepare with enthusiasm: they dust off the cannons, raise flags, polish boots and medals. Midday passes, then afternoon, then night… and the Barbarians do not appear. The wait stretches on for days, until a disquieting doubt arises: what if the Barbarians don't exist?
