Kendarian Molino was once a prestigious investigator. Now he's little more than a demoted civil servant, assigned to Raven Valley to investigate the disappearance of three young girls under mysterious circumstances. The case doesn't particularly interest the authorities, but it's enough to warrant further investigation… at least on paper. His new posting also means a return to the home he left as a young boy. There, he's haunted by memories of his father's death at the hands of a Guest, monstrous creatures that inhabit the lands of Elenda, and the lingering shadow of the Dark Willow, an ancient being that dwells nearby and whose activity seems to have intensified in recent years. As the investigation unfolds, Kendarian must confront not only a community that prefers silence, but also his own inner demons and the consequences of his fall from grace. What begins as a missing persons case transforms into a descent into the secrets of magic and the darkest depths of the human heart.
