01 Premio Bienal de Poesía San Juan de la Cruz 2025
In 1961, the poet Carlos Sahagún published As If a Child Had Died, one of the essential books of the Generation of '50 and of 20th-century Spanish poetry. The poems in As If a Girl Had Died humbly pay homage to Sahagún's text, while also exploring the author's own themes and obsessions: the passage of time, the construction of the poem, and the epic nature of the everyday. All of this, according to the jury of the San Juan de la Cruz Prize – Academy of Minstrels of Fontiveros, is presented with "an original, unpredictable approach, far removed from the typical treatment of universal themes in poetry."
