El linaje de Pierre

In the midst of promoting her novel, *The Postcard*, which originated from an anonymous postcard and captivated over half a million readers, Anne Berest receives news that brings everything to a halt: her father, Pierre, is gravely ill. Suddenly, she realizes she barely knows this taciturn man, nor the Breton lineage from which he descends. This time, the clue comes in the form of four school notebooks in which her grandfather, Eugène, recorded his memoirs. From these notebooks, Berest embarks on an intimate and fascinating investigation that leads her to Saint-Pol-de-Léon, in the heart of Finistère, where at the beginning of the last century her great-grandfather founded La Bretonne, the region's first farmers' union.
