That memory transports me back to moments lived and that special feeling of nurturing through food, to the dedication of those who devoted part of their time to cooking to feed us and ensure we were healthy, strong, and happy (thank you, Mom; thank you, Dad ;)). From all these memories and feelings, both past and present, that revolve around cooking, this book was born. In it, you'll find recipes for fabulous stews and unique sandwiches made largely with leftovers from stew recipes. We have to take advantage of so-called "leftovers," because every scrap is an opportunity we discard to be more creative (the key to human survival, if you'll allow me to get a little intense) and happier. I assure you that a "well-thought-out leftover" can transport you to paradise with how delicious it can be when sandwiched between two slices of bread. Finally, this book, in addition to stews and sandwiches, and stews that are put in sandwiches, also includes recipes for my favorite homemade breads, a few fancy garnishes (to elevate them to sandwich-level status), and delicious homemade sauces that you can use not only for your sandwiches but for anything you can think of.
