Florence is in the midst of the Renaissance. Lavinia, motionless before the canvas, imagines how to mix the pigments: red, blue, orange. But she knows it's forbidden. Because a woman cannot paint: she can only secretly nurture the dream of art. Everything changes when Piero della Francesca, one of the great masters of his time, arrives at her uncle's studio. Lavinia is captivated as she watches his expert hand work on The Flagellation of Christ. He embodies everything she longs to be… and seems to sense it, despite his reserved nature. Soon, Lavinia senses that Piero's presence conceals something. These are uncertain times: the Pope is ill, and the intrigues surrounding his succession have already begun. And the painter knows more than he lets on. When her uncle is unjustly accused of murder and Piero decides to investigate, Lavinia refuses to remain on the sidelines. By his side, she begins, for the first time, to see the world through her own eyes. They will both find themselves trapped in a game where every brushstroke hides a secret and every detail is stained with blood. Because painting can be a sublime art… but it can also conceal dangers.
