Sofia is a renowned journalist and writer who, after spending many years in the capital, captivated by fame, decides to return to her roots. Completely exhausted, she wants to leave many things behind: The Refuge, her latest novel, was a media and sales success. She has established herself as a promising author, but this success has only created problems in her personal life. She carries with her the remnants of a relationship whose end she is unprepared to face. Her plan is to return to the simpler aspects of life: to reclaim a family home and renovate it. The views of the Cantabrian Sea will become her haven of peace. When the renovation begins, one of the construction workers finds a metal can that will change the course of her longed-for new life. Sofia will discover correspondence that reveals a great love story between two people from the village, a forbidden and frowned-upon love, seemingly buried under a great secret known to all the locals. The letters will lead her on a journey where she will uncover secrets her family never knew she possessed, as well as much of her town's history. Will she be able to piece together the loose threads of this great love story?
