La obra más aclamada de un poeta y grabador visionario. Incluye la reproducción facsímil de la edición original de Blake.
The work of William Blake (London, 1757-1827) is among the most original and imaginative in English literature. A poet, visual artist, and engraver by profession, he saw himself as a prophet proclaiming the indispensable value of art for the proper development of humankind. Furthermore, drawing on nonconformist Christianity and the revolutions of his time, he created an unusual and accurate vision of human history. 'Songs of Innocence and of Experience' is Blake's best-known and arguably most important work, at least from a literary perspective. In it, the relationship between text and image is crucial, as it comprises one of the poet's "Illuminated Impressions," a combination of poetry and illustration, engraved, printed, and colored. The 'Songs of Innocence' group was also the first of the volumes he composed using this "infernal method", the same one that would manage to seduce poets, musicians and critics of the stature of Allen Ginsberg, Patty Smith and Harold Bloom.
