Gabaón is a village perched on the edge of a cliff, facing the sea, but it's also a school, an orphanage, a monastery. Sixty-one busy, purposeful nuns live there. And three indolent priests, with the gaunt, upright Father Alén at the helm, his voice like a bread grater, a breath away from Mother Adriana and her enormous glasses.
