La asistente editorial

To dedicate herself to music: that's Charlotte's greatest desire, but after graduating, she begins to understand that this isn't such a viable path and she has no choice but to look for a "real" job. In the waiting room of the editor whose assistant she's now become, she realizes she's very close to the center of power. She's had to turn her life upside down: she's moved to Munich, rented a cold and depressing apartment whose only appeal is the view of the Isar River, and distanced herself from her parents, on whom, despite their differences, she still feels dependent. But she soon realizes that the editor frequently changes assistants, suffers sudden fits of rage, and demands a commitment from Charlotte that goes far beyond work: she can't go away for the weekend, leave her phone unattended, or, of course, indulge her budding romance with Bo. Although at first she goes out of her way to try to impress her tyrannical boss, her world gets smaller and smaller, and Charlotte will have to decide if the excellence she knows she is more than capable of is enough to compensate for so many sacrifices.
