The patriarch of the Godley family, an admired and passionate mathematician, lies in a deep coma from which his doctor assures him he will not awaken. His inner circle has gathered at the family estate, led by his second wife, Ursula, and his two children, who have been at odds since childhood for their father's favor and are mired in their own emotional turmoil. While they all mentally review the tensions and grievances that divide them, no one suspects that the patriarch, far from being a vegetable, possesses a perfectly lucid conscience. The unexpected arrival of some visitors with unclear intentions will further disrupt the atmosphere; perhaps these newcomers are the gods themselves, mischievous and playful, watching over the family's every move and even intervening to guide their course.
