During the siege of Sarajevo in the 1990s, as the former Yugoslavia bled itself dry in a fratricidal war, a young boy experienced the conflict's devastating consequences firsthand. Emir lived with his family in a modest apartment building; around them, the city transformed into a battlefield, and the adults grappled with fear, rage, and resignation. As bombs rained down on the rooftops and snipers fired relentlessly, Emir tried to hold onto the magic of childhood by playing with his two inseparable friends, searching for valuables among the ruins, and listening to music on his cherished red radio.
