Alma Mater

Emiliano Larreta, a sixty-something Latin professor with a reputation for being tough and a womanizer, is found with his throat slashed in his office at the University City of Madrid. The details of the murder are particularly gruesome. It appears to be the crime of a sadist driven by revenge. The case is assigned to Federico Gajanejos, an inspector with the National Police Corps and an amateur astrologer, who is going through a particularly difficult time in his life. Just when the investigation seems to have stalled and his personal situation is becoming increasingly complicated, Professor Vargas is shot dead in a university parking lot. The two murders appear to be related, and alarm grips the university campus.
